"There might only be one sun in the sky, but there are two light sources in this picture"

Photographers can do some planning but at the end of the day we have to shoot in a given place at a given time and make the very best of it. Who knows if there is going to be sunshine, shade, rain or a blizzard - we just have to get on with it and get the shots. Sunshine can be a terrible enemy and rain can make the shot - it's all about making the most of the situation.

Neil will cover some basic thought processes, talk about keeping the brief right at the front of your thoughts and work out exactly how to use several key techniques to make great people photos on location. The day will start at Photofusion and swiftly move to a nearby location. A model is provided by Photofusion and images made on the day will sent to all participants (you can bring your camera to capture some shots).

This introduction to studio flash lighting will take participants through high-key and low-key lighting set-ups, introduce participants to three-point lighting with the key light, fill light and effect light, show participants how to light the background and how to seperate the subject from the background. The workshop uses a variety of lightshapers from beauty dishes to fresnal spots to illustrate different lighting effects. All equipment and materials are supplied by Photofusion.

Although this course will teach you the fundamentals of studio and you will walk away with new found studio lighting confidence, the only way to really improve is to practice in a photographic studio. Therefore Photofusion offers all Intro to Studio Lighting participants a 50% discount on Photofusion full membership (£25 per year instead of £50) and a 50% discount on your first studio booking (£75 for a day instead of £150). This offer is valid for 3 months after you have completed the course.
